Georgetown Day
The Annual Georgetown Day Festival is proudly sponsored by Georgetown Village Restoration, Inc., the Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department, the Joel Barlow Wrestling Team, and the Georgetown Lions Club on a Sunday in early June.
The Festival, an event that gains momentum and popularity every year, is held along Main Street in Georgetown, Connecticut. The day features activities for adults as well as children:
- live music provided by local bands,
- delicious international foods,
- a palate warming chili cook-off,
- a beer tent,
- a hot dog eating competition,
- a dunking booth,
- artisans and vendors selling beautiful arts, crafts,
clothing, and jewelry.The youngsters can have their faces painted, laugh with the clowns, take a turn in the bounce house, and more.
As part of the festival day the Wilton Family Y and the Wilton Chamber of Commerce sponsor the Georgetown Gallop, a 5K race for both adults and children, held along Old Mill Road and ending at Main St. in Georgetown. Before the festival even begins, crowds form on Main St. to observe the race. The Festival then opens its doors to a hungry crowd ready to shop.
Georgetown is located in the corners of Redding, Weston, Wilton and Ridgefield and is in close proximity to Westport, New Canaan, Darien, and Norwalk as well as Danbury and Bethel. Because of the renowned success of the past Festivals, future Festivals will continue to be exciting days that will attract many people from all around the area.
